Shannyn’s love for theater began in a small community theater in West Virginia, where she performed as Tessie in the musical Annie at the age of 10. She followed that up with many roles in community theaters, school musicals and plays, and studying Musical Theater at Penn State. She also spent a summer as Lake Bryn Mawr Camp’s Assistant Theater Director (an all-girl’s residential camp in the Poconos) and has taught Drama Kids classes.
Ms. Wentz is a certified teacher with over ten years of teaching experience in public schools and private preschools. Ms. Wentz is married to Jeff, who she met while in college. They have a daughter and a son, one who loves to sing and perform, and the other who really should spend some time refining his natural beat-boxing talent, but prefers to play lacrosse. Ms. Wentz and her family have lived in North Dallas since 2006 and moved to Prosper in 2017 where they built their “forever home.” She is currently a substitute teacher for Prosper ISD and is serving on the 2019-2020 Reynolds PTO Board as Vice-President. She is also active in her church; singing on the Vocal Team, leading music for VBS, and serving as an adult leader for the Youth Mission Trip.
No matter how long she has been away from the stage, she always seems to find a way back. After her son was born, Ms. Wentz began voice lessons, which led to starring as Mayzie LaBird in a local production of Seussical the Musical. That is when her daughter, who played Jojo in the same production, developed a love of performing as well. They started seeking out community theaters close by, where they could continue to enjoy performing together, and discovered that most theaters in this area do not provide the kind of experience they were looking for. Ms. Wentz is looking forward to helping PCT grow into a place where children of ALL ages come together to create something magical for our community. Join us!!
