JR DeLaney was born into the theater as performing is in his blood. His mother introduced him to the community theater in Nevada, Missouri, at a young age, taking on the role as one of the Herdman kids in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. He went on to play many roles in community theater, school performances of all ages (elementary through high school), college and on to community theaters around North Texas. He has been in such productions as: You Can’t Take it With You (Tony), Dracula (Jonathan Harker), Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog (Captain Hammer), The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and many, many more parts, both big and small.
Mr. DeLaney has held the positions of Artistic Director for the McKinney Repertoire Theatre-Young Actors Guild, director of many school plays, and stage manager for many others. He enjoys working with children and sees bringing live theatre and the opportunities it brings as a lifelong goal of his.
Mr. DeLaney is married and has 2 daughters, all of which enjoy the theatre as well and have been known to be performers, singers, and dancers. He has lived in the McKinney area since 2012 and is originally from southwestern Missouri and came to McKinney via the Washington D.C. area.
JR is a skilled musician and entertainer as well as writer. He is often submitting ideas to publishing houses for print and will break through that ceiling one day!
